Building Baskets seeks to challenge our preconceptions of contemporary craft practice in Zimbabwe by showcasing the results of a participatory design project involving the Lupane Women’s Centre.
During a workshop in Matabeleland, designers Simon Maidment and Carl Clerkin worked closely with 26 highly skilled crafters to develop new products and making opportunities as well as time and space to explore their craft and creativity and its relationship to their identity.
